Going into Thursday's series finale, the Seattle Mariners hadn't led at any point in two prior games against the New York Yankees and failed to score more than twice in either contest. The Mariners bucked both trends and put up three runs in the first inning en route to a 3-2 win over the Yankees.

New York clinched a postseason berth thanks to Anthony Rizzo's go-ahead RBI double in the tenth inning. In the bottom of the tenth, Julio Rodríguez got picked off third when he strayed too far from the bag avoiding Randy Arozarena's bat after he lost it on a swinging strike three. Check it out:
